Jeana Wirtenberg helps companies and organizations make sustainability a mainstream, routine business practice. She is an expert on the leadership, organizational dynamics, and psychology required to make that happen.
Jeana is president and CEO of Transitioning to Green. Her company develops individual and organizational capacity to make sustainability take root. Working with CEO's, Presidents and VP's of Fortune 500 companies, Jeana has helped organizations reach the highest levels of performance excellence by aligning with business strategy. She has a proven track record of bringing about new levels of organization and individual capability, leadership, cultural transformation and business success.
Her new book is Building a Culture for Sustainability: People, Planet and Profits in a New Green Economy. In the book, she shares insights on how nine major companies are holistically integrating sustainability throughout their operations. She also draws on more than 20 years of her own research, teaching, and front-line experience. She pulls all those pieces together to deliver practical advice to large and small organizations on how to begin or accelerate their own transitions to long-term sustainability.
Jeana is a co-founder of the Institute for Sustainable Enterprise at Fairleigh Dickinson University and teaches at Bard College’s MBA in Sustainability Program. She has held senior organizational, professional, and leadership development positions in major companies--AT&T and the Public Service Enterprise Group (PSEG), as well as in the Federal government at the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, and the National Institute of Education.
Jeana was lead editor on The Sustainable Enterprise Fieldbook: When It All Comes Together, published in 2008. She was a lead author of Creating a Sustainable Future: A Global Study of Current Trends and Possibilities, 2007-2017. She has many other publications and studies to her credit.
Jeana graduated Magna Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from the City University of New York and earned a Ph.D. in psychology with honors from the University of California at Los Angeles.
